      I had been a hairdresser all of my adult working life, working my way up to manager of the Gauci Hair and Beauty franchise at Tea Tree Plus. I took time off to have my son and when he started school, I was looking for a new challenge. I no longer wanted to do hairdressing but had no experience working in an office. Then Dawn asked if I would like to do reception work at her company. She felt that I had great people skills and understood about customer service and attention to detail. I started very small, just answering phones, making coffee, stocking the files and cupboards, sending post etc. I undertook some computer courses and learnt how to navigate around websites and different programs. Now I not only handle the receptionist duties and it is still important to make coffee, I upload all of our properties onto the internet, I co-ordinate the marketing and web sites, I produce window displays and put together brochures, order sign boards, I generally took control over the sales team and I now tell them what I need and when I need it. I cannot believe how far I have come from not knowing how to turn on a computer three years ago. I am very grateful to Dawn and Andrew for giving me this opportunity to embark on a new career and in turn, I know they are very happy and grateful for the job that I am doing for them.
